The chateau of Hluboká nad Vltavou was originally a castle. It was rebuilt into a Renaissance chateau in the 2nd half of the 16th century. However, the present-day appearance comes from architects working in the services of the Lords of Schwarzenberg, who had an important influence on South Bohemia from the mid 17th century until the early 20th century. They had the chateau rebuilt in the Baroque style first and in the 19th century in the Romanticist Tudor Gothic style, a prominent example of which is the English royal castle of Windsor.
